The Georges Creek Railroad
On the layout I also want to include a small tourist railroad. The railroad named the Georges Creek Railroad (GCRR) operates on the CSX Georges Creek Subdivision hauling passengers and all freight except for coal which is hauled by the CSX.
The GCRR operates across the line with a station for tourists and an interchange with CSX at Westernport, MD. They have an Ex Santa Fe Steamer that is in repair and a B&O SD7 and H16-44 that handle the mixed freight. The freight trains on the line are often sporadic and run as needed. The Passenger trains run by appointment over the weekdays and then make two runs a day over the week end. The main costumer for the GCRR is the New Page Paper Mill in Luke, MD.
I'm am quite aware of the currently operating Georges Creek Railway but I did not want to model that railroad becuase though it is in the correct locale I wanted the CSX and tourist railroad connection and CSX does not operate on the Georges Creek Railway.

All CSX trains that operate on the Georges Creek Subdivision pass through Westernport, MD due to lack of another place to house power on the line. The Georges Creek Turn (B880 and B881) operates with no pattern but one mine usually loads atleast once a month. U543 and E352 are larger unit coal trains that enter and leave the Thomas Subdivision at Westernport to head onto the Georges Creek Subdivision. They operate as unit trains from the mine to the power plant and normally have 6 axle power. CSX B889 operates from Westernport to Barton, MD every sunday to switch out the mines and serve the few industries on the branch. B879 is the Midland turn and switches out the industries. This train operates every other Tuesday to help prevent an overflow of traffic on the line that can hold up mine runs and coal trains. The line has little to no sidings meaning that only one train can operate on the line at one time. No CTC or DTC, the line is all dark territory and train orders are given out by radio. The 10 mile branch see little to no activity these days with a train about every month. I added B889 and B879 to add traffic onto the line so it doesn't seem empty or lacking in action during operating sessions.
